~ Science Revision Paper 2 ~

SECTION B

26a) Tadpole

b) 1st difference: At Stage C, it has a tail but not at Stage A
2nd difference: It has no legs at Stage C but has legs at Stage A

27a) Egg/s

bi) X has 3 stages in its life cycle while Y has 4 stages in its life cycle /   X has no pupa stage but Y has pupa stage /   The young of X looks like its parents but not the young of Y.

ii) X and Y both have nymph stage.

28) 1st picture (respiratory)  ---------Allows gaseous exchange to take place

2nd picture ( digestive) ------ Breaks down food into simple substances

3rd picture ( Skeletal ) ----- Protects vital organs

4th picture (Muscular) ----- Helps in body movements

29a) B  ------>   C ------->    A --------> D

b) Mouth, Stomach and Small Intestine

30a) Circulatory System

b) Heart/blood vessels/ Veins/ Arteries/ Capillaries

31a) Roots

b) Both the length of the root and shoot increased / become longer /    keep rising.

c) ----

32a) Water level must be drawn STRAIGHT at 60ml.

b) It occupies / takes up space in water.

c) It is a solid and has a definite volume.

33a)   ----

b) It is made of opaque materials that do not allow light to pass through.

34a) Metal is a better conductor of heat than plastics. / Heat from the soup was transferred faster to the metal spoon than to the plastic spoon.

b) The spoon gained / absorbed heat from the soup until both reached the same temperature.   or  Heat from the hot soup was transferred / escape from surrounding to the spoon till both reached the same temperature.

c)  ---

35) Flask A contracted first before the air in it contracted thus pushing the ink upwards.

When cooled further, the air contracted and ink drops to take up the emptry space.

36a)  A  C  B  D

b) Mark 2 ends of the poles !!
Reason: The poles of a magnet are the strongest

37a) To find out if object X is a magnet

b) Y and Z were not attracted to the magnet.

Y and Z were not repelled by the magnet.

c) It is not magnetic / non-magnetic.

38a)  As the number of turns of the wire increases, the strength of the electromagnet increases / the magnetic strength of the iron nail increases.

b) The type of batteries / number of batteries  / voltage of batteries / brand of batteries must be the same.

The iron nail must be of the same type /  The wire must be of the same type.
